REMINDER
This is just a reminder that our president willingly lied to us in order to start a war...a WAR! I can't think of anything more absolutely or certainly evil in this world than a path of death and destruction, and our leader eagerly chose to pursue it.
I had to watch a woman on tv this morning talk through tears about how much she will miss her husband, and her one year old son will miss his daddy, because he was blown up in Iraq earlier this week. And when her son is older and asks what daddy died for, what will her answer be? Was Iraq threatening the safety and freedom of the U.S.? No. Did Iraq attack the U.S. ? No. So why did daddy have to go there?
As of August 3, 2005 - 1,819 U.S. servicemen have died in Iraq, and another 12,762 have been wounded (source: globalsecurity.org). Many of those wounds involve life-altering scars such as loss of limbs, loss of basic senses, or even complete paralysis. What do they have to show for the sacrifice? I recently read about a 32-yr-old soldier who lost 80% of his vision when an IED hit his poorly armored Humvee and shrapnel ripped through his brain. He's had several surgeries since, but still needs someone to walk with him; he can't remember simple details from day to day, like whether he paid his bills or took his medication; and he has no chance of getting any sight back - at 32, this is his life for the rest of it. But the payoff is...???
And to all you war supporters out there, I ask...if the mission was so noble and patriotic to begin with, why did your leaders have to lie to you in order to get you to agree?
